THE SCOPE

As part of its sustained growth, Gaming1 is looking for a Platform Engineer, with expertise in Data and Transport, to join its IT team.

The Delivery Platform cluster, part of our technology landscape, is responsible for providing the internal developer platform to our development community, where we focus on enabling technical capabilities in a self-service manner with a customer centric mindset.

Inside the Delivery Platform cluster, we are looking for someone who can manage and maintain our organization's databases, ensuring their performance, security, availability, and reliability. They should have a strong understanding of database architecture, design, and management, as well as experience with database software, such as PostgreSQL. Additionally, they should possess analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve database-related issues, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with other members of the organization.

You participate in the implementation of new, and innovation of existing capabilities within the GAMING1 ecosystem, both on premises and in AWS public cloud, using Infrastructure-as-Code, security best-practices, and CI/CD principles to reach the target architecture.

You will also be responsible for the operational management in ensuring the optimal functionality, reliability, performance, quality, and availability with an SRE mindset.

YOUR ROLE

List the responsibilities, daily tasks and long-term objectives.

  • Manage and maintain the organization's PostgreSQL databases, ensuring their performance, security, availability, and reliability.
  • Configure and optimize database servers and processes to ensure high levels of performance and availability, including managing backups, monitoring database health, and ensuring data integrity.
  • Work closely with development teams to design and optimize database queries, and troubleshoot database-related issues as they arise.
  • Monitor and maintain database security and access controls, including implementing appropriate permissions and encryption.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures, including backup and restoration processes.
  • Stay up to date with new trends and technologies in database administration, PostgreSQL and RabbitMQ in particular, and make recommendations for improvements to database systems and processes.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in database administration with expertise in database server management (PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using tools such as Terraform and Ansible to manage database infrastructure.
  • Experience with CI/CD and GitOps principles using tools such as GitLab to manage database deployment pipelines.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies, such as VMware and/or Nutanix, and how they relate to databases.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL operator on Kubernetes is a big plus
  • Proficiency in Linux operating systems, with a strong understanding of how they relate to database administration.
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery strategies for databases.
  • Experience with operational observability using tools such as DataDog to monitor and troubleshoot database issues.
  • Familiarity with RabbitMQ and its role in distributed systems is a plus.
  • Fluent in English and have a good knowledge of French.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work closely with development teams and other stakeholders.
  • Willingness to continuously develop skills and stay up-to-date with new trends and technologies in database administration.
